A new
book by Dr. Michael Holick attacks the conventional wisdom that sun
exposure can have detrimental and sometimes fatal consequences. His
book, entitled, The UV Advantage, offers a different approach to
sun exposure and suggests that regular moderate exposure to UV light is
the key to healthy living. Dr. Holick, Professor of Medicine,
Physiology and Biophysics at Boston University Medical Center, argues
that a lack of UV radiation leads to the body’s depletion of Vitamin D.
This depletion can lead to diseases such as osteoporosis, hypertension,
diabetes and cancer of the colon, prostate and breast.

book about health that looks at the whole person and not just one of
our body systems in isolation . . ."
". . . Holick has
solid scientific credentials and draws on a vast array of studies, his
own as well as other's . . ."
". . . vitamin D deficiency is probably
the most common deficiency in the developed nations, all the more
important because it is generally unrecognized. We have three ways to
deal with it: sun, supplements, or food fortification. Of the three,
sun is the safest. In this book Michael Holick provides a much needed
antidote for the scare tactics of the skin mafia . . ."

on the arms, face and legs will help increase levels of vitamin D,
thereby reducing one’s risk of such diseases such as osteoporosis,
diabetes, hypertesnion and cancers of the colon, prostate and breast.
I agree that…
